VIĻŅA, JUN 11, BNS - Lietuvas Vērtspapīru komisija piespriedusi 1400 litu (285,6 latu) naudas sodu investoram Mindaugam Meiženim, kas ar akciju manipulācijām tirgū nelikumīgi nodrošinājis pirmo vietu savai sievai investīciju spēlē, kuru rīkoja Rīgas Ekonomikas augstskolas investīciju fonds.

Vērtspapīru komisija noskaidroja, ka Meiženis no 13.decembra līdz 8.februārim, dodot norādījumus dažādu akciju pirkšanai un pārdošanai, sistemātiski mākslīgi paaugstinājis un pazeminājis 15 kompāniju akciju cenas, šādi ietekmējot Rīgas Ekonomikas augstskolas investīciju fonda organizētās spēles rezultātus.

Dodot šos norādījumus, Meiženis arī maldinājis citus investorus, teikts Vērtspapīru komisijas paziņojumā.

Komisija par Meiženim piespriesto sodu informēs Latvijas finanšu tirgus uzraudzības iestādes un Rīgas Ekonomikas augstskolu. Minētās investīciju spēles organizatoriem tiks ierosināts pārskatīt tās rezultātus un pilnveidot noteikumus.

Aizliegumu manipulēt ar akciju tirgu paredz Lietuvas Finanšu instrumentu tirgu likums.

For those who's keen on finance, a slide from a lecture:

Armand Hammer founded and ran Occidental Petroleum until his death in 1990 at the age of 92. Although he is generally credited with creating a highly successful oil company, during the last decade of his life he pursued strategies that were widely criticised and that resulted in dismal share performance.

The "proof":

On 10 November, 1989, Mr. Hammer entered the intensive care unit of the UCLA Medical Centre. The stock price increased from $28 to $31, representing a total gain of $300 million.

Soon afterwards it was reported that Mr. Hammer underwent only a routine adjustment to his pacemaker. The stock price dived by $2.

Finally, when Mr. Hammer passed away, buying of shares was so heavy that trading was halted because of order imbalance (i.e. no one would sell).

The following is a link to a very funny satirical music video by the students at the Columbia Business School. This takes a little set-up to understand some of the inside jokes. It is set to the tune of the old Police hit, "Every Breath You Take." It makes fun of the fact that the Dean of the Business School, Glenn Hubbard, former chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers to the President, wanted to be Fed chairman. CBS refers to Columbia Business School and not the TV network. Major kudos to the kids who did this! And for those of you who aren't familiar with Hubbard's face (after all, he is an economist), the student who "plays" Hubbard is an uncanny look-alike of a young Hubbard.

По-моему, это нужно на sse-homepage повесить, прямо рядом с application form, чтобы все возможные иллюзии абитуриентов на корню засохли! :)

Y1 сейчас приступил к изучению Organization&Management. Задание курса - написать репорт по какой-нибудь организации, рассматривая её с четырёх перспектив. Ну, впрочем, чего я вас лечу теорией.
Встали мы перед трудностью найти эту компанию. Возможно, кто-нибудь из вас согласился бы нам посодействовать.
Критерии такие:
Количество сотрудников - 5-100 человек.
Возможность пообщаться с несколькими представителями разных уровней структуры компании.
